Fool me once... trifle on me. Fool me twice... carrots on you.

Part of my family gets together before Christmas so we can see each other and exchange gifts with the kids. And like the last few years, we're being asked to bring an appetizer.

So today I'm researching a really great appetizer to bring and I start looking on marthastewart.com. She's got some really hard recipes... if I hadn't taken Home Ec. 101 in high school, I wouldn't know what "julienne" carrots means.

The second I get to the Food section, out pops her Triple Chocolate Trifle.

Doesn't that look DE-LISH? DE-VINE? Yes... it does... everything is homemade, the cake, the mousse, the custard, the whip cream.

And then it hits me.... I've already made this before.... I made it for Christmas with the same group of people a few years ago.

I spent three days.... yes, 3 DAYS making this... the cake, the liqueur syrup, the CUSTARD...

I had to go buy a Trifle Dish on Christmas Eve because no one in California had one! I can name 3 friends in Colorado that had one... and used them!

Boy, I even had Sydney out in the freezing cold hammering the peppermint candies! Come on Kid...it's all so we can share this sweet heaven with our family!

Mine even looked like that God-damn picture.

And guess who ate it? No one. Only my husband and dad really ate any... everyone else was on a DIET.

So guess what I'm bringing this year?

Yep, one for each person. Actually, 6 might not be enough... so the diet buddies can all happily share their sticks.

Funny stuff there. First, I do own a trifle dish and wish I had another. Secondly, those clothes S is wearing? They're still in our too big box for Audrey.

That does look pretty yummy! You can make it for my family, we have never been known to skip dessert! And bring Fred if he's going to share it with us! :) I guess mom can come too, but she'll need to bring those carrots! hahaha
