Next on the fitness agenda?

Coming up on eight months now of a journey. I started working out to get into shape for the surgery. By the time the surgery rolled around, I flirted with the idea of a 1/2 marathon and nailed it.

What's next? Bring it on.

My attitude has changed. After you've been killing yourself in organized sports, I think some people feel a let down and almost a phobia against working out. I would do a 30 min work out just to get it done.

But in the last 8 months I feel I've made the transition where I work out for me and my sanity and health, not to make the team perform any better. This attitude of my later life is so much more enjoyable!

But what's next?

Shamrock 1/2 marathon? Get down to 185 on my scale? Figuring out these goals are difficult. Try something new?

It's a combo pack of goals. I went to my first CrossFit session. I started with 4 personal training sessions. On Friday I did some workout of 21 reps - 15 reps 9 reps of assisted pull ups, push ups and air squats. But it started with a 400 m run, then ended with a 400 meter run.... all for time.

OMG, I hit an 11 where that last run, my arms were literally dangling at my sides and I couldn't control them. My heart rate went to a 172.

Epiphany.... I'm not pushing myself hard enough. I don't know if I should do this everytime, but it made me realize I've got some juice left over that is sitting inside me waiting to come out.

Was I sore the next day? Yeah, but not so horrible. It felt good and I could still pick Ethan up. I was even able to beat my time today on my 4 mile run up Big Mama....

So the goal is to add a high intensity workout in, talk to my life coach (my personal name for my trainer) and keep on keepin' on.

Because there is no alternative to that.
