When you die, you live beyond Texas

On our way to school, we got onto the subject of Aunt Julie. Aunt Julie died last year.

It was very difficult to explain to Sydney what it means to die. But I didn't resort to heaven or angels. I told her the truth, I think.

"Aunt Julie was in a bad car accident. She was hurt very badly and she had to go away forever."

Sydney's response. "Oh... I miss Aunt Julie, will you tell me stories about her?"

"Of course! That's how we remember people we can't see anymore."

Sydney responds, "You mean like Savannah?"

OY! This kid's going places... "Ummm... No. Savannah didn't die honey... she still lives in Texas."

"So Aunt Julie lives farther than Texas," do you see the wheels working here??

And THAT is how a 4 year old thinks. Subject closed for another day.
