What is it?

July 6 was the 20 week mark and we got to find out the sex of the baby. I went in early in the morning. We had a DVD made of it. I tried to close my eyes to the whole thing. The plan was to have it written on a piece of paper and open it with Nathan and Sydney that night.

6pm rolled around and we were just finishing dinner. We sat down and told Sydney she was going to be a big sister. The reason Mommy was getting big in the tummy was because we were growing a baby. "A baby?? Oh boy! Can I watch TV now?"

We told her she had to wait to find out if it's a boy baby or girl baby. A look of minute patience streamed across her face. I opened it first and without any expression handed it to Nathan.

It's a boy.

How were the reactions?
Sydney: Ok, great, a baby brother. Can I watch TV now?
Me: Ok, great, we have one of each! How am I going to cloth this bad boy who will become over 6 feet tall and probably have feet as big as his daddy? I went out to PotteryBarn Kids and bought the outfit I'd been wanting since before there was a baby.
Nathan: Happy.

Other reactions to note:
Poppy: Wanted to go out and buy a football helmet the next day.
Big Grandma: Screamed on the phone, that's how happy she was.
